2008-04-28 - I Kill Monsters

Hey Everyone,

As some of you might know, with the help of my production partner Desmond Sargeant, I produce/direct short films through our production company Gorilla Milkshake Productions.

Over the years, we have written, directed and produced many short films including "Dogstar", "Tomorrow", "Penumbra" and most recently "Patient".

Well, the itch has gotten to us again, and we are looking to get our next film venture off of the ground.

The project is called "I Kill Monsters" and can best be described as an Adventure/Horror/Comedy in comparison to Goonies and Ghostbusters, with a little more blood.

Here's a synopsis:

"After accosting an old women believing her to be a mummy, a self-proclaimed monster killer named Go is discovered as a fraud and put out of business. Down and out, all seems lost for Go, until a cattle farmer with a werewolf problem hires Go to rid his farm of it for good. With his team, Voice-Box and Piper, Go sets out on a last ditch mission to clear his name, regain his pride and earn a few bucks on the side."

Written by Desmond Sargeant (recipient of top screenwriting honours at the 2002 Toronto International Teen Movie Festival) the film will be directed by Neil Huber (Nominated in 2005 for Best Direction at the Sheridan Media Arts Awards and recipient of Sheridan's "Most Outstanding Graduating Student Award" in 2006). The film is set to star Al Catlin (recipient of such awards as the Kari award in 2005, the Judges Choice Kraft Award for Performance, the Gold Lion at the Cannes Advertising Festival as well as two nominations for a Bessie.) as Go, the Monster Killer.

Now, as with most independent film productions, there is one hurdle that is always the hardest to over come. Finance.

Which brings me to the reason of this post.

We are looking for possible creatively supportive financiers for "I Kill Monsters". Pitch packages are available upon request but a sample of the films script can be found in my Portfolio section under "I Kill Monsters".

We will be shooting the film in the late summer months (late July-August) in hopes of having a Winter 2008 release where it will then make it's way around the film festival circuit.

Although donations are welcome, we do not see financiers as such. This film will be treated as an investment, and as most investments have returns, our film will be no different.

If you're interested or know someone who might be, please contact me at neil@neilreel.com

Thank you for your attention and help.

Cheers,

Neil Huber

2008-04-15 - Freak-Quently

Hey Everyone,

The video that I directed for the Keelo Gramz song Freak-Quently has finally been released. It isn't early December like I promised but better late then never.

UPDATE* The version that was up before was not the final one...my bad. The final colour corrected version is now available here.

I hope you enjoy it. More to come soon.

Cheers,

Neil

2008-02-15 - SPINNING NEWSPAPER HEADLINE!

Hey Everyone,

A lot has been going on as of late, so I figured I should give all you kind people an update.

I recently cut a trailer together for "The Dirty Truth" (see banner). The Dirty Truth is a film noir detective comedy about climate change by Director/Producer Michelle Leduc. The trailer (which can be seen below) was cut together and entered in a contest for Pangea Day, what is "Pangea Day" you ask? well....

Pangea Day taps the power of film to strengthen tolerance and compassion while uniting millions of people to build a better future.

In a world where people are often divided by borders, difference, and conflict, it’s easy to lose sight of what we all have in common. Pangea Day seeks to overcome that – to help people see themselves in others – through the power of film.

On May 10, 2008 – Pangea Day – sites in Cairo, Dharamsala, Kigali, London, New York City, Ramallah, Rio de Janeiro, and Tel Aviv will be videoconferenced live to produce a 4-hour program of powerful films, visionary speakers, and uplifting music.

The program will be broadcast live to the world through the Internet, television, digital cinemas, and mobile phones.

Of course, movies alone can’t change the world. But the people who watch them can. So following May 10, 2008, Pangea Day organizers will facilitate community-building activities around the world by connecting inspired viewers with numerous organizations which are already doing groundbreaking work.

To find out more about Pangea Day, click here.

This past Monday, I was on the internet radio program "The Green Room" to talk about many things but more specifically "Patient", the film I co-produced in December. Check out the interview HERE. I saw the footage recently and I have to say I'm really excited. It's a film you won't want to miss.

That's it for now, more news coming soon about Patient and the next film I will be directing, "I Kill Monsters".

Cheers,

Neil

2007-11-12 - Back on the Radar

Hello Everyone aka. the few people that visit my site,

Well after being away for almost a year due to the work onslaught of Magee TV, I've finally come up for some air to give you guys an update. "Penumbra", a project that I produced with the help of Kari Fairweather and directed by the talented Desmond Sargeant is in it's final stages of editing. It's been stuck there for a while but I feel it will be emerging safely on the other end soon.

In early December, I will be co-producing again with Kari Fairweather on the short film "Patient" to be directed by Dan Clements. It's a York University project that I am 100% convinced will be insanely awesome. Once completed, you can definitely count on something popping up on the site.

Come January, I will finally be getting back to the position I love most and jumping into the directing chair. That project will most likely be "Out of Order" although that has yet to be confirmed.

I also will be producing an untitled short in February to be directed by Adrian Munro.

OH, yesterday we wrapped on the Music Video for the song "Freak-Quently" by Keelo Gramz feat. P. Dollaz (see banner above). The video will be up on the site early December.

Stay Tuned,

Neil
